Do mice store and eat acorns like squirrels?

My sister has been finding acorns in a variety of odd spots in her log cabin out in the country. There does not appear to be any mouse droppings or chewings near by. She has found mice in her cabin in the past. Do mice store and eat acorns like squirrels to? She found one on top of the TV (!!) and a whole row neatly tucked into the area between the mattress and the box springs on her bed. Freaky! We think it's probably mice, but have just never heard of them gathering and storing them up like squirrels. Anyone else had this experience?Do mice store and eat acorns like squirrels?
no, mice sometimes find and store food/trash and eat it later but they dont store acorns like squirrelsDo mice store and eat acorns like squirrels?
Never had this happen but i have delt a great deal with animals. ive never herd of mice storing food in there mouths, but there are a lot of different types of mice and roddents. i know chipmuncs are smaller and they do it, so that might be the explanation. it has to be some kind of roddent. you just have to see what kind live in her area so you can narrow the search down for what type of roddent it is...

Yes, sometimes they eat mice and birds.Do squirrels ever eat smaller animal such as mice?
they ususally do not inless they are really hungray.Do squirrels ever eat smaller animal such as mice?
I wouldn't be surprised. They look cute but they are nasty little buggers.
They don't hunt them, but all rodents are not opposed to eating flesh if the need arises from lack of other food sources. A mother squirrel will eat her own young in times of food scarcity. Most likely to eat another animal (carcass only, they're not hunters) is mother squirrels who have higher protine needs.
    No. Squirrels are vegetarians.
Yes they will eat smaller animals - particularly small rodents. I've seen ground squirrel species eating mice in the past - it just depends what's available to them at the time - sometimes they just see it as an easy meal and take what they can.
squirrels are not necessary vegetarians..... They will raid a birds nest for the eggs... and even tiny birds... they have been known to eat dead mice... ( if they cant find anything else)... I dont think a squirrel could catch a mouse. lol

they eat insects. and all that other good stuff..

    why u ask?
no - squirrels are not meat eaters
This place says they eat carcass if nothing else is available.
there not meat eaters.here is something you can do if you enjoy seeing them screw the cap of a peanut butter jar to a tree and cut the bottom off they love it
no, maybe an occasional bird egg, but that's it

Was God lacking imagination when he made squirrel, chipmunk, groundhog, prairie dog, mouse, rat,or are they of

the same family and basically similar because they all evolved from the same ancestor, which makes a lot more sense than saying God has no imagination. Was God lacking imagination when he made squirrel, chipmunk, groundhog, prairie dog, mouse, rat,or are they of
Another important point is that Noah was to take one of each kind on the boat. That would mean that Christians actually believe in much more evolution than biologist do. Imagine how many types of birds have branched off in the few thousands of years since the alleged flood. Was God lacking imagination when he made squirrel, chipmunk, groundhog, prairie dog, mouse, rat,or are they of
A mustang is a FORD, your evolution may have skipped a bit...lol

I like bad squirrels the best.
    They are all tasty.

(well, from the kitty's point of view)
How do you know he made all of those, they could be a creation of breeding with oppossite animals and overtime became a race.
if u were creating a series of somthing u would build on previous ideas and envision a change to a previous design ... or am i wrong ... i think its evidence of a creative God .. and taking evolution at face value is basically looking at creatures that have some similarity and coming to the sweeping conclusion that they MUST be related ... its ludicrous ... its like saying a corvette evolved from a ferrari ...
Well, how about eagles, whales, octopi, centipedes, giraffes, bears, bacteria, frogs, sharks, earthworms, etc.? I'd say that's pretty imaginative... The world is very diverse, and what we have on Earth is far from unimaginative.

But I agree, the reason why animals of certain groups are so similar is because they share a common ancestor. And even animals who are very different, are also very much alike. All mammals have hair, and even the same bone structure (pretty much), I mean even in a whale's fin, you'll find a bone structure similar to that of hands, which suggest that if you go further back we share a common ancestor with whales. If you look at DNA, you'll find that we are all made up of pretty much the same stuff to a degree, which leads even further to the idea that we all (different species) came from the same stuff on Earth. And if you look even further, you'll notice that all elements on Earth, including the elements necessary for life were created in the stars, meaning we ALL (including this planet!) came from the same place!

dze... Just like Humans and Rodents are BOTH mammals and related to that degree, Corvettes and Ferraris are BOTH cars, and ARE related to a degree. In that sense, they do share a common ancestor, the original car. But no, they did not evolve from each other.

You see, that's where a lot of Creationists get confused. They assume that because we share a common ancestor, it means we evolved from the Monkey. No, we BOTH evolved from a common ancestor, but not from each other.. just like the Ferrari and Corvette both evovled from a common ancestor, but not from each other.

Just so we're clear, in relation to a Human and Monkey, we are related the way a Corvette and Mustang are related (both are Chevys); Humans and Monkeys are both Primates. Corvette and Ferrari are related in that they are both Cars. Humans and Rodents are related in that we are both mammals.
Well, he was creating the whole universe in six days, so maybe he was in a hurry.

But it makes more sense to believe in common ancestry.
Entertainment value. Ever see a grown person run from a mouse or rat. God knew what he was doing!

Sounds like you answered you own question, good luck.

    Squirrels or mice in attic?

I think we have a squirrel or a mouse in our attic. We don't want to use poison because we have blow in insulation and if it dies up there we will never find it. Anyone with this problem before? Serious answers only pleaseSquirrels or mice in attic?
Have you seen the show Verminators? I'm not suggesting hiring them, but they use this sticky board and put peanut butter on it to leave for the mouse to find, get stuck to, and die. Mouse traps can be found where you leave them. Trapping cages would work too, if you want to keep it alive.

I don't know if you're intending to kill the thing or not, but getting rid of it without hurting it most likely isn't going to happen.Squirrels or mice in attic?
Seems like people always want to believe it's a squirrel that they hear. You won't hear mice (they're too small) and they don't usually go in attics anyway. More often your culprit is roof rats.

Roof rats are an arborial rat ( they like heights ). If you hear them during the day, and you have a small stream nearby, they're almost certainly roof rats. They are nocturnal and squirrels aren't. So they will be inside during the day while squirrels will be outside foraging during the day.

The best solution is traps. They are best set in pairs as sometimes the first will just get a foot or tail. While they are jumping around trying to get loose the second one will get him. If one gets caught in just one and gets away, you'll never kill it with a trap after that. There smart that way.

Do not place traps directly near an opening or run in the insulation. They will notice the change. Place them along walls or HVAC units or close by visible droppings. Use peanut butter for bait, as it will last much longer than cheese without drying out.

Check every day as they stink pretty quick in the heat and replace any traps that have killed with a new trap.

After you are sure you have got them all, don't forget to find how they got in and seal these openings, Oh, an adult roof rat can fit through an opening the size of a quarter. Also trim any tree limbs that are near the roof. This is almost always how the gain acces to your house in the first place.

Please, please help? I am desparate. I hear mice or squirrels building a nest underneath my kitchen sink.?

Yet I live in a home with no cellar underneath - only a teeny, tiny crawlspace. Although animals are unable to enter my home - (I covered ALL cracks and holes) - their persistent nesting noises are disconcerting. Not to mention the fact that I don't want them building a nest around my pipes and heating vents! Is there any product - safe around house pets - that will deter these noisy pests? A friend told me she purchases something you plug in the wall, and it seems to be working for her. She never sees mice around/in her home. Please help? What do you recommend as the safest, best natural or electronic product?

Thank you. Please, please help? I am desparate. I hear mice or squirrels building a nest underneath my kitchen sink.?
Electronic devices such as strobe and ultrasound emitters do not work. Government tests have proved this. You may see short-term results, but long-term, it is not a solution.

Call an exterminator and ask for a free estimate. They will come over and take a look. Once you know what you are dealing with, you can either hire the person or do the pest control yourself. Please, please help? I am desparate. Only some of the gadgets you plug in a wall will irritate some of the mice and rodents. I bought Smarter Image's Mouse Mover and it worked, kind of. The mice ran out of the living room into the bedroom. So for my house I guess I need at least two.

(PS there's many bad reviews for the mouse mover and it's no longer made.)

I read more ratings and you need a device for each room/area. So one for each bedroom and bath, ,but only one for the living/dining/kitchen. And it will take 2-3 weeks to drive them away.

I looked at Amazon.com. There are reviews for the various ultrasonic repellers gadgets, so you may make a more informed choice.

I've also read a cotton ball dipped in Oil of Peppermint is repugnant to mice and rodents. They'll stay away simply cause it smells so awful. The 1 oz bottle costs about $5 at the local health food store.

Don't buy Peppermint extract, then you'll only have drunk mice.
    Hi from France 鈾?br>

Buy the same that your friend, but why are you so afraid with these little animals ?

    Have a nice week-end,

    Cat.
Mice hate the smell of peppermint. If you could get that in there, they might leave. It should run other things off too.

That is going to smell bad when you turn your heating vents on.
